Privacy Policy
Effective as of October 29, 2026
1. Who we are
aomstats.io ("aomstats", "we") is an independent, fan-run statistics site for Age of Mythology: Retold. An individual developer in Pennsylvania, USA operates it. aomstats is not affiliated with or endorsed by Microsoft, World's Edge, or Valve.
Contact us about anything in this policy through our Discord server .
This policy covers two groups of people:
- Players whose game data appears on the site, whether or not they have ever visited it.
- Visitors and account holders who browse the site or sign in.
2. Player data we collect from game services
If you play ranked Age of Mythology: Retold, aomstats collects data about your game profile automatically. You do not have to visit the site or give us anything. We retrieve it from the game's online services, the Age of Empires website and Steam, then store it on our own servers.
| Data | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Game profile ID, in-game name, country, clan | World's Edge community leaderboard service |
| Rating, rank, wins, losses and streak on each ranked ladder | World's Edge community leaderboard service |
| Match records: date and time, map, gods, teammates and opponents, result, duration, rating before and after, end-of-game score counters | World's Edge community leaderboard service |
| Replay files | World's Edge community leaderboard service |
| Steam ID, or a link to your Xbox profile | The platform account the leaderboard service lists for the game profile |
| Avatar | Steam, for profiles tied to a Steam account. The Age of Empires website leaderboard for everyone else |
| Live lobbies you host or play in: title, map, players, gods, and whether the lobby has a password. Whether you are searching for a ranked match | The game's lobby and matchmaking service |
| Clan name, tag, description and message of the day | World's Edge community clan service |
| Tournament records: player name, country, series and game results | Liquipedia and start.gg |
| Twitch channel name and ID, whether the channel is live, and links from matches to the Twitch videos that show them | Twitch, for streamers who authorize our bot or whose channel we list |
| Previous in-game names | Recorded by aomstats when a name changes |
| Calculated statistics: win rates, god usage, minor gods, rating history, per-god ratings, actions per minute and activity over time | Computed by aomstats from the data and replays above |
Some of this goes beyond what the official leaderboard displays. In particular, aomstats keeps a history of previous in-game names, links a game profile to its Steam or Xbox profile, and builds per-player statistics over time.
Most of what we store is ranked games. We also store the custom and quickplay matches the leaderboard service reports, and we show them on the profiles of the players in them. Site-wide statistics use ranked games only.
When we ask Steam for an avatar, Steam's answer can include other details you made public on your Steam profile, such as a real name. We keep that answer in a temporary cache for up to 14 days and read only the display name and avatar from it. We never copy the rest into our database or publish it.
We do not collect your email address, IP address, chat messages or payment details from any game service. We see whether a lobby has a password. We never collect the password.
3. Data we collect from visitors and account holders
Browsing aomstats does not require an account. When you visit, we collect:
- Server logs. Our CDN, Cloudflare, and our own servers log technical details about requests. These can include your IP address, browser type, the pages you requested and timestamps. We use them to run and secure the site, and we keep our own logs for 30 days.
- Replay downloads. When you download a replay, we keep your IP address next to the match ID for 5 minutes so one person cannot inflate a replay's download count.
- Error reports. When something breaks, our error-monitoring provider, Sentry, receives technical details about the failure. These can include your IP address and browser details.
- Analytics. We use Plausible Analytics. It sets no cookies and does not follow you across sites. It counts page views and records the referring site, your browser, operating system, device type and the country your IP address maps to. It does not store the IP address. We also count three actions: replay downloads, use of the god filter and use of the opponent search.
If you choose to sign in or link accounts, we also collect:
- Steam sign-in. Your Steam ID, confirmed by Steam, plus your Steam display name, avatar and the time of your last sign-in. We never see your Steam password. If your Steam account has a ranked game profile, we link the two and use your Steam avatar on that profile.
- Session. A session record that keeps you signed in. It expires 7 days after your last visit.
- Social links. The YouTube, Twitch and Liquipedia links you enter in settings. We show them on your public profile.
- Discord link. Your Discord user ID and username, if you link a Discord account. Our Discord bot uses them to mark you as verified. We do not ask Discord for your email address.
- Twitch bot. If you authorize our Twitch bot, we store your Twitch channel ID, channel name and the access tokens Twitch issues so the bot can chat in your channel.
- Sign-in activity. A daily list of which accounts were active, kept for 30 days, so we can count active users.
- Messages. Anything you send us on Discord.
If a Discord server adds our bot, we store that server's ID, name, member count and a count of the commands used there.
We do not collect payment information. The donation link in the navigation bar goes to Ko-fi, which handles any payment under its own privacy policy.
4. How we use data
We use player data to publish leaderboards, player profiles, match histories, live lobbies and replays, and to calculate aggregate statistics such as god win rates and matchups. Our Twitch and Discord bots answer questions in chat from the same data. We use visitor and account data to run, secure and debug the site, to confirm that you own a game profile, and to answer your requests.
We do not sell personal data. We do not show ads, and we do not use personal data for advertising or to build profiles for any purpose other than game statistics.
Where EU or UK data protection law applies, our legal basis is our legitimate interest in providing game statistics to the community, based on game data the publisher already makes available. You can object to this at any time (Section 6). For account data, the basis is providing the features you asked for.
5. Who can see or receive data
- The public. We publish player data on the site, and search engines can find it.
- People who download our data. We publish weekly files of match records and a snapshot of the leaderboards, and we run a public Tournament API. Other developers and sites can retrieve and reuse this data. We do not control what they do with it afterwards. The API page lists every field.
- Service providers. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, Sentry and Plausible process data on our behalf to operate the site. When a streamer's chat asks our Twitch bot about a match, the bot can send a screenshot of that public stream to OpenAI to read the player names on screen.
- Steam, Discord and Twitch. Signing in or linking an account sends you to that service, which handles your sign-in under its own privacy policy.
- Authorities. We disclose data when the law requires it, or to protect the site and its users.
We never publish server logs, your Discord ID or your sign-in history. The only account data we publish is the social links you add and the Steam avatar on your profile.
6. Changing, removing or hiding your player data
You can change or remove the data about your game profile, and you do not need to give a reason.
Change your country or clear your previous names yourself
If you play on Steam, sign in and open settings. Settings only changes the profile linked to the Steam account you signed in with.
- Pick a country under "Country" and click "Save Country". From then on we keep your choice instead of the country the game reports.
- Choose "Wipe prior aliases" in the Danger Zone and confirm. We delete the names you played under before and keep only your current name. If you change your name in the game later, we record the new name.
We cannot restore wiped names.
Hide your profile yourself
If you play on Steam, sign in, open settings and choose "Hide my profile permanently". We ask you to confirm, then to sign in with Steam a second time so we know the request comes from you. The hide takes effect as soon as you confirm the last step.
Hiding your profile does the following:
- Your profile page shows "This user is hidden" and no data.
- We delete your name, previous names, country, avatar, clan, rank, rating history and per-god statistics.
- We remove you from search, the profile directory, every leaderboard on aomstats and custom ladders.
- We delete your aomstats account, including your social links, your Discord link and your Twitch bot authorization.
- We delete the replays we hold for your matches and never save new ones. Your opponents lose the replay statistics for their games against you.
- Your matches stay in other players' match histories. You appear there as "Hidden user" with the map, gods, result, end-of-game score and the rating you finished that match on. This keeps your opponents' histories and the site's aggregate statistics accurate.
Hiding is permanent. We cannot restore the deleted data, and that Steam account can never sign in to aomstats again. We keep your game profile ID and Steam ID, and nothing else, so we can keep the profile hidden when we collect new matches and refuse future sign-ins.
Our weekly match files contain no names, but each row carries a game profile ID. Rows for your matches stay in them. We do not rewrite files we published before you hid your profile. The leaderboard snapshot drops you the next time we generate it.
Ask us
Contact us on Discord if you want something smaller, or if you cannot use the settings page:
- We will remove your avatar or your country.
- If you cannot sign in with Steam, we will correct your country or clear your previous names for you.
- If you play on Xbox or cannot sign in with Steam, send us your profile link. We will arrange another way to confirm the profile is yours, then hide it for you. We check ownership so that nobody can remove someone else's profile.
We respond within 30 days.
What we cannot change
aomstats does not control the official leaderboard or Steam. Removing data here does not remove it from Microsoft, World's Edge or Valve. Contact them directly, and review your Steam profile privacy settings. We also cannot recall copies that other people already downloaded from us.
7. Retention and your rights
| Data | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Player profiles | Until you hide the profile. A profile that drops off the official ranked ladder leaves our leaderboards, and we keep its page and match history |
| Match records and aggregate statistics | Indefinitely, without names for hidden profiles |
| Replay files | 5 days after a ranked match, or 15 days once a replay has 10 downloads. 1 day for custom games |
| Live lobbies | Until the lobby closes or the match ends |
| Server logs | 30 days |
| Error reports | Only as long as we need them to debug the site |
| Session records | 7 days after your last visit |
| Account data: Steam ID, social links, linked Discord and Twitch | Until you hide your profile, unlink the account, or ask us to delete it |
| Profile ID and Steam ID of a hidden profile | Indefinitely, to keep the profile hidden |
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, object to our use of it, or receive a copy. We extend these to everyone regardless of location, using the process in Section 6. We will not treat you differently for making a request.
You can change your country, wipe your previous names, unlink Discord or turn off the Twitch bot at any time from settings. Hiding your profile deletes your aomstats account. To delete the account and keep the profile public, contact us.
If you are in the EU or UK and are unhappy with our response, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Cookies
We set one cookie, and only when you sign in. It holds a session ID that keeps you signed in for 7 days. We also save your table sorting and filter choices in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device. Cloudflare may set a cookie of its own to protect the site from abuse. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
9. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Only the operator can access our servers and database, and a small number of trusted admins and moderators can use the site's admin tools. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that data will never be accessed without authorisation.
10. Children
aomstats is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect account data from them. Player data arrives from game services without age information. If you believe a profile belongs to a child and want it removed, contact us.
11. International visitors
aomstats is operated from the United States. We and our service providers may store and process data in the United States and other countries.
12. Changes
We will update the effective date when this policy changes, and announce significant changes on the site or in our Discord server.
